Johnsburg has many contests this election…

Using a chicken and egg metaphor, a townwide property revaluation in Johnsburg about two years ago hatched a greater awareness of town government.

Revaluations, when property values are adjusted to match market trends, are nearly always controversial.

In Johnsburg, controversy over the accuracy of the methodology was magnified, as it was the first revaluation in the town in about 50 years.

Glens Falls to break ground Friday for ‘Market Center‘

Chronicle Managing Editor Cathy DeDe writes: Glens Falls plans a groundbreaking ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, for the long-awaited “Event and Market Center” on South Street, downtown.

The $5 million project is a signature piece of the City’s $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant awarded by then-Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2016.

Cronin High-Rise resident seniors say youths hit & harassed them Monday morning

Three senior citizens at Cronin High Rise said one was assaulted, and all were harassed by a group of youths Monday morning, October 16, at around 11 a.m.

Larry Carter, 69, told The Chronicle a youth struck him from behind while he was in the “gazebo on the property for Cronin.”

Mr. Carter was with two other women, also senior Cronin residents.

The two candidates for Warren County Clerk differ on whether to restore unlimited walk-in service at the county Department of Motor Vehicles.
