Rogers Island says NY gun law caused it to cancel reenactment; Stec reacts

The Rogers Island Visitor Center in Fort Edward said it cancelled the 18th Century Military Encampment & Battle Reenactment on September 24 and 25 due to “New York State’s new gun law that restricts the carrying of firearms in ‘sensitive places.’”

Rogers Island said that despite a Governor’s office statement that reenactments could still occur, “there is no specific exemption in the legislation for reenactments.”

Y’s Gators back in the swim

After a two-year hiatus, the Glens Falls YMCA’s Gators swim team is finally back.

“We’re very excited. We’re hoping to start up on September 19th,” says head coach Dennie Wilson.

Tryouts were set for yesterday and today, Sept. 14 and 15, but that might pause. Ms. Wilson said the new pool heater wasn’t working as of Monday; repairs are imminent.

Kevin Crossman has thriving T3 triathlete coaching biz

T3 Coaching, the “Customized Triathlete Coaching” program founded by Kevin Crossman, has grown organically into sizable community.

“This year alone, we’ll have approximately 50 athletes that we coach,” he said. “And we have five USAT certified coaches on staff.”

Coach Crossman teaches physical education at Glens Falls Middle School, and coaches the Varsity Boys Swim Team.

Dylan McDonnell isn’t altogether at ease with the Birthday Bash fund-raiser set for Friday, Sept. 30, 5 to 10 p.m. in the Queen’s Ballroom at the Queensbury Hotel, marking his 45th birthday.

Dylan, Glens Falls High School Class of 1995, was diagnosed at age 19 with the debilitating disease Friedreich’s Ataxia.
