Mayor Collins rebuffed

Glens Falls Mayor Bill Collins suffered a rare Common Council defeat Tuesday when his plan to buy the TD Bank property across from City Park for $1.2-million fell short by an abstention.

Ward Two Councilman Bob Landry, Ward Three Councilwoman Diana Palmer and Ward Four Councilman Ben Lapham voted no.

But the decisive action was Ward One Councilman Ed Donahue’s decision to abstain.

Looking to help turtle with hook stuck in mouth

On Sept. 17, North Country Wild Care posted on Facebook asking people to keep an eye out for a turtle with a fishing hook through its mouth at Crandall Park in Glens Falls.

Kim Marro-Borysewicz told The Chronicle that she and partners Stephen and Michelle Christian will open the location at 140 Glen Street, across the hall from Kru Coffee.

Report: Dire impact of Great Meadow closing: 649 direct jobs lost; 2,419 jobs lost overall

Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Fort Ann is the largest public or private sector employer in Washington County, and its closure on November 6 will heavily alter the county’s economy.

The county hired Caimon Associates, Economic Development Consultants to analyze and project its impact.
