GF School panel urges end to valedictorian & naming of top 10

The Glens Falls City School District “Class Rank Committee” is recommending that the school stop naming valedictorians and salutatorians, and disclose class rankings only for college and scholarship applications.

Trent Clay, assistant superintendent for curriculum, said the committee will now discuss it with superintendent Paul Jenkins and the Board of Education, who will decide whether to make any changes or keep things the same.…

Andy Gregorio stepping down as weatherman on Channel 13; moves into tech

Andy Gregorio will step down in mid-June as a meterorologist on WNYT.

Mr. Gregorio, who lives in Glens Falls with his wife Mary, joined the station, Channel 13, in 2015. He previously spent 14 years on the air at WTEN.

LG celebrates opening of Charles Wood Environmental Park & Festival Commons

Grand opening ceremonies took place Wednesday, May 29, celebrating the Charles R. Wood Environmental Park and Festival Commons, created from the former site of the Gaslight Village theme park in Lake George.

The 12.5-acre park filters sediments that flow toward Lake George, and the festival space hosts numerous events, like Americade this weekend. There are restored wetlands, a nature trail, a unique “natural” playground and a skateboard park.

Ben Miller, 94, D-Day survivor, was medic who flew into Normandy in glider
