Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 0900 hours — that’s 9 a.m., civilians — SFC Arthur Coon’s 16th annual Christmas Eve Road March steps off from the Cool Insuring Arena in downtown Glens Falls.

Hot race on tap: Warren County Judge

Republicans Gary Hobbs and Rob Smith and Democrat Greg Canale all are seeking the Warren County Judge seat now held by John Hall. Judge Hall, a Democrat, has reached the state’s retirement age for judges and must step down at the end of 2020.

Because the new political calendar requires candidates to obtain petition signatures starting in mid-February, the race is on.

Colin Bannon, LG grad, sells script to Netflix ‘high six figures’

Colin Bannon, 34, has sold First Ascent, a horror script with a mountain climbing theme and supernatural aspects, to Netflix for a price the Hollywood website Deadline calls “the high six figures.”

Sam’s Diner raises record $61,500 for Operation Santa

Sam’s Diner on Dix Avenue in Glens Falls raised a record $61,500 — up from $38,600 last year — in its “Small Business Challenge” for Operation Santa.

Sam’s Diner owner Pete Brock said the $61,500 will provide coats, hats and mittens for 1,118 kids.

Rock Hill Cafe update: Aim to move in January

After a series of delays that pushed the project back by several months, Matt Funiciello says he expects to relocate his Rock Hill Bakehouse and Cafe in January to the Shirt Factory annex building in Glens Falls.
