Matt Simpson, the Brant Lake resident, Horicon Town Supervisor and State Assembly candidate, already has the backing of Warren, Saratoga and Essex County Republican Committees. He’ll seek the Washington County GOP nod Tuesday, Feb. 18.
He faces a prospective Republican primary challenge in June from Doug Beaty, an at-large county supervisor from Queensbury.

Chris Reed, Jr., who revived Drum Corps International shows at East Field in Glens Falls successfully in 2018 but disastrously in 2019, said he does not intend to present it this year.
The show in 2018 did well, Mr. Reed reported, but heavy rains last year on the day of the event — Monday, July 22 — led to its cancellation.

The student committee of the 43rd annual South High Marathon Dance selected 37 beneficiaries — 22 individuals or families, and 15 organizations. The committee said it received approximately 180 requests.
The dance is Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at the South Glens Falls Senior High School. Last year, 600 students completed the dance.
