Mayor Perry: Use Albany’s Capital Holiday Lights to create walk-thru attraction in Lake George

Lake George Mayor Ray Perry proposed the village bring Albany’s former Capital Holiday Lights, in storage since 2022, to create a walk-through winter attraction at Charles Wood Park’s Festival Commons.

Mayor Perry pitched it at an Aug. 30 village meeting. He told The Chronicle the concept has been “pretty well received among the few people I’ve shared it with.”

Adirondack Balloon Festival: Thursday to Sunday, Sept. 19-22

Balloon Festival: About getting a ride

The Balloon Festival does not schedule or book balloon rides. Book directly with the pilots, festival organizer Mark Donahue says. See the Website’s “Balloons” page to find contact information for those pilots offering paid rides.

Mr. Donahue said fewer balloonists are offering rides this year, for several reasons including changing FAA regulations. He also suggests “walking the field” during the festival to find pilots who are taking paid passengers.
