Rob Girard chosen for NYS Basketball Hall of Fame

Glens Falls High School basketball coach Rob Girard will be inducted next April into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame.

Warren County supervisors mull 1% sales tax hike

Warren County supervisors are discussing whether to increase the sales tax by one percentage point. It would bring the rate from 7% to 8% (4% state, 4% county).

Warren, Washington and Saratoga are the only counties with a 7% sales tax. All of New York’s other counties except one (Ontario, 7.5%) are at 8% or higher.

Many fewer jets than expected came to airport during Belmont; not like eclipse

The Belmont was a bust for Warren County Floyd Bennett Airport.

Airport Manager Robin Mapp said that over a six-day period they only had five aircraft arrive, when somewhere between 20 and 30 were projected.

Spa’s Homemade Theater terminates paid staff trying ‘to survive

Home Made Theater in its 39th year in Saratoga Springs announced that it will become an all-volunteer company, “releasing our entire paid staff as of the end of our fiscal year on June 30th.”

Laid off were three full-timers: Executive and Artistic Director Eric Rudy and the business manager and the tech director, plus a part-time administrator/volunteer coordinator.
