Glens Falls Drag Queen story hour sold out; location to be revealed later

Lower Adirondack Pride scheduled a Drag Queen Story Hour in Glens Falls on Saturday, Sept. 21, from noon to 1 p.m.

The group said participants must register in advance and the location will not be shared with them until Friday, Sept. 20.

The event, announced on Facebook on Friday, Aug. 23, had reached full capacity by the following Monday.

Pride flag will fly in GF, SGF, maybe more

Lower Adirondack Pride announced the Village of South Glens Falls has agreed to fly the Pride flag next June in recognition of Pride month.

The group said it has now reached out to Warren County, Washington County, the Villages of Hudson Falls and Lake George, and the Towns of Queensbury and Lake George, to fly the Pride flag at their municipal buildings next June.

Washington Co. amends its Occupancy Tax so all short-term rentals must pay 4%

The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved an amendment to the its Occupancy Tax law on Aug. 16 to require a 4% tax be collected anywhere a fee is imposed for an overnight stay regardless of how many units are available.

The law specifies short-term rentals — a dwelling rented for fewer than 30 consecutive days.

SMSA school is ‘St. Mary’s Academy’ again

As of Monday, St. Mary’s-St. Alphonsus Regional Catholic School “will once again be known as St. Mary’s Academy!” the school announced on Facebook.

In his letter to parishioners St. Mary’s Church Pastor Father Scott VanDerveer noted that this year the school will have “not one but two” kindergarten classes.
