LG Music Fest: Good tunes, but such a weird turnout

The American Music Festival retains its position as the likely high-water mark for successful events at the Festival Commons at the Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George — but on a slightly weird foundation this year.

Glens Falls grad Marika McCoola has New York Times Best Seller

Baba Yaga’s Assistant, the new book by Marika McCoola, age 27 and a 2005 Glens Falls High School graduate, debuted at third on the August 30 New York Times list of best-selling hardcover graphic novels.

Qby. Middle School kids do Google-inspired ‘Genius Hour’

Queensbury Middle School sixth grade social studies teacher Clare Brady is encouraging her students to become “geniuses.”

“I was inspired by Google, which has a ‘genius hour,’” Ms. Brady says.

Google employees are encouraged to take time during their week to pursue anything, whatever passions they choose. The goal is increased creativity.
