New Moreau drama: Call to oust historian

A long-term conflict centered around the Moreau Town Historian’s social media presence reached the Town Board last week.

A petition started by Maureen Jackson called for “the Removal of Brigid Martin as Town of Moreau Historian.” It has 308 signatures on change.org.

During the open comment portion of the July 20 Town Board meeting, Ms. Jackson spoke and submitted a letter.

Glens Falls Zoning ok’s variances for 28 Chris Patten apartments on Washington St.; synagogue objects

The Glens Falls Zoning Board of Appeals on Monday night approved five variances that will allow developer Chris Patten to build two apartment buildngs on adjacent properties at 3 and 5 West Washington Street, downtown.

Shooting on Pershing Ave, Queensbury

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Friday morning at 10:27 am, it “was called to 13 Pershing Road in the Town of Queensbury for a report of a person, or persons, with stab or gunshot wounds. The residence and immediate area were secured and it was quickly determined that there were no concerns for public safety relating to this incident.”

Lake George Battlefield unveils restored battle diorama

Chronicle Summer Staff Hannah Hughes writes: The Lake George Battlefield Visitor Center unveiled a restored diorama on Tuesday, July 11, that depicts “General James Abercromby’s 15,000-man flotilla departing the head of Lake George in 1758 on its way to a disastrous defeat by the French at Ticonderoga.”

The diorama was originally created in the 1950s for the Adirondack Museum (now the Adirondack Experience).
