Chronicle reporter Ben Westcott writes: Shangri-La Real Estate Holdings of Saratoga Springs wants to build a dozen 3,600 sq. ft. greenhouses, a 5,000 sq. ft. drying/storage barn, and a 1,000 sq. ft. farmstand off Exit 17 at 63 Spier Falls Road in Moreau.

South Glens Falls Police investigate suspicious Incident with child & pickup truck

BREAKING: The South Glens Falls Police Department said it is actively investigating the report of a suspicious male in a pick-up truck approaching a child Wednesday, Sept. 18, at around 6 PM in the vicinity of Gansevoort Road and Reynolds Street.

Big fire at Spier Falls dam halts power generation

A fire fought by 10 local fire companies at Spier Falls Dam in Moreau on Saturday evening wreaked havoc on the 56 megawatt hydroelectric plant owned by New York City-based Brookfield Renewable U.S.

“Unfortunately, the powerhouse at the Spier Falls hydropower facility has been lost to the fire,” the company said in a statement.

Mayor Perry: Use Albany’s Capital Holiday Lights to create walk-thru attraction in Lake George

Lake George Mayor Ray Perry proposed the village bring Albany’s former Capital Holiday Lights, in storage since 2022, to create a walk-through winter attraction at Charles Wood Park’s Festival Commons.

Mayor Perry pitched it at an Aug. 30 village meeting. He told The Chronicle the concept has been “pretty well received among the few people I’ve shared it with.”
