Quite the snake on that ‘lily pad’

Ralph Reale took this photo Sunday of a large Northern Water Snake sunbathing on a “Lily Pad” in Log Bay on Lake George, and agreed to let us use it. It’s not clear if the swimmers in the background were even aware of their uninvited guest! The snake is not poisonous. There have been lots of reports of snakes swimming in Lake George, especially in and around Log Bay.

‘Beau’ closes Adk. Theatre Festival on the highest note

Chronicle Managing Editor Cathy DeDe writes: In French, “Beau” means “beautiful man.” It’s a fitting title, then, for the Adirondack Theatre Festival’s final show of this summer season — a honky tonk musical that continues just tonight, Thursday, Aug. 8, and tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 9, at The Wood Theater in Glens Falls.

GF Park Theater sets ambitious ‘2019-2020’ season, more

9th LG Music Fest returns Aug. 11-23

The Lake George Music Festival opens year nine this week, with artists arriving on Sunday, Aug. 11, and events beginning Monday, Aug. 12.

“The music we have programmed and the events are the most innovative yet,” says artistic director Barbora Kolarova.

LG Mayor Blais, 83, to throw out first pitch at Red Sox game Sun., Aug. 18

Lake George Village Mayor Robert Blais, the longest serving mayor in New York State history, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Boston Red Sox home game at Fenway Park against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, Aug. 18. Game time is 1:05 p.m.
