Taste of the North Country is next week: 37 eateries & back on the grass

The Glens Falls Kiwanis Club’s 23rd annual Taste of the North Country food festival is next Sunday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the interior of City Park.

Cirelli’s to open ‘Jam ‘n’ Eggs’ next to Osteria

Michael and Kathleen Cirelli, who operate the dinner restaurant Cirelli’s Osteria near the Route 9 bridge in South Glens Falls, now plan to open Cirelli’s Jam ‘n’ Eggs, a breakfast and lunch spot two doors south of it.

Greenwich-born duo has new EP with Big Boi, huge rap star

A music duo who grew up in Greenwich has joined forces with one of rap music’s biggest names in a seven-song EP titled Big Grams to be released on Sept. 25.

The pair, known as Phantogram, are Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter.

Rob Girard named varsity coach of GF boys’ basketball

Rob Girard is the new varsity boys’ basketball coach at Glens Falls High School. He suucceeds Tony Hammel, who coached the team for 25 years and is retiring from teaching next June. Girard’s appointment was approved 9-0 by the Board of Education at its Aug. 10 meeting. He will earn $6,056 for the season. He works for the City’s Department of Public Works.

Boat fire: Did gas go in wrong chamber?

Joseph Sheehan, 46, remained in critical condition Tuesday morning at Westchester Medical Center in the aftermath of the explosion just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, that destroyed a 28-foot Chaparral boat at the dock at Fischer’s Marina on the east shore of Lake George.
