NHL’s Calgary Flames to pay $90,000 up front; City not on hook

The tentative American Hockey League deal between the City of Glens Falls and the NHL’s Calgary Flames includes a $90,000 up-front payment to the City in exchange for the rights to advertising and signage in the Civic Center, Mayor Jack Diamond told The Chronicle Tuesday.

Mt. McGregor: 76 employees, zero inmates

No prisoners remain at Mount McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton, but 76 staff members still work there around the clock, The Chronicle has learned.

The medium-security prison is due to close on July 26, one of four prisons statewide being shuttered to save money and respond to the declining number of inmates.
